Anand works on human opportunistic fungal pathogens Candida albicans and C. glabrata. He is interested in understanding how the usually co-isolated two fungal commensals interact with each other to maintain a harmony, especially during pathogenesis.

Khyati is interested in understanding the genome architecture of individual natural isolates of Magnaporthe oryzae, the Rice-Blast fungus, collected from different hosts from various parts of the country. She is taking a Next-Gen Sequencing-based comparative genomics approach to achieve her goal. Her major focus would be to study the distribution of the genes involved in secondary metabolism, and to see if it has any role in host specificity.
